Over the years I have learnt some techniques that I use every time I go to the snow to save me money. In the article written below I went over some of my main techniques that can be done by everyone easily with a little planning and foresight.
Don’t stay in accommodation right on the ski fields, stay in a hotel down in the village or town at the bottom of the mountain.
Bring your own lunch up to the ski resort. The restaurants on snow fields have outrageous prices for food and drink so pack your own lunches.
When buying ski or snowboard gear, buy it in Spring & Summer. Most shops will have discounts on during the summer time so you can pick up all your necessary items as cheap as possible. I got my last set of k2 snowboard boots at half price
There are a heap of different travel options available when choosing a ski resort, its not uncommon to find a ski trip cheaper than your normal one that’s overseas. So have a look at some overseas tour options available.
If you want to hire gear, you can usually find cheaper rental gear at the town or village do not hire them at the ski resort.
All ski resorts offer a variety of different lift ticket options to choose from when you go to the snow. Some lift ticket options include lessons with an instructor. So choose wisely, and look at all the options available when you buy your lift tickets. I once won a set of oakley goggles and a new set of snow skis from a lift ticket I bought
Check the snow reports before you head to the snow (Look at the webcam’s because resorts are known to exaggerate the current snow conditions.) By doing this you know that their will be good snow cover, so you will have the best possible holiday.
I have skied in many places around the world, I have skied in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada & Japan. In my opionion Japan is the best place to ski by far. Japan has very modern resorts aswell as a friendly culture. The price of staying in Japan is very cheap compared to other countries in the world. Japan also has the best snow I have ever seen, It has the lightest and dryest powder in the world and I thourougly reccomend going to Japan skiing atleast once in your lifetime.
